The size number indicates the thickness and length of the brush head. In art, these are generally categorized into three main zones:

1. Fine Detailing (Sizes: 0, 00)

• Best For: Hairline strokes, ultra-precise linework, miniatures, signatures, and intricate facial details.

• 00 (Double Zero): Extremely tiny and needle-sharp. Holds a very small amount of paint for pinpoint accuracy.

• 0 (Zero): Slightly longer bristles than the 00; great for controlled tight lines and fine outlines.

2. Precision & Medium Work (Sizes: 1, 2, 4, 6, 8)

• Best For: Filling in small-to-medium shapes, controlled blending, and structural sketching.

• 1 & 2: Ideal for minor details, lettering, and sketching out the foundational design on canvas.

• 4 & 6: The workhorses of the set. They hold a generous amount of paint while maintaining sharp edges or a fine point.
